Central Location

Chairs

Shelley Point is a security village on the West Coast, approximately 150km north of Cape Town. It provides an ideal base from which to explore the region. The fishing village of St Helena Bay provides for most necessities.

Vredenburg, the administrative centre of the region can be reached via the R27 approximately 32km from the premises. Other towns nearby include Velddrif(34km), Port Owen(36km), Saldanha Bay(43km), Langebaan(54km) and Paternoster(19km).

What to Do

Surfers Heaven is within safe walking distance of the Shelley Point Hotel, only 1km away and the 9-hole golf course with clubhouse.

Surfing and sailing are popular in Shelley Point with the good surfing spots known as “heaven” and “hell”, the former spot is right in front of us.

The peninsula also provides superb sailing, kayaking, skiing and windsurfing opportunities with safe water for children. There are many dirt roads nearby which are ideal for mountain biking.

Guests can take an approximately 30min walk along Shelley Bay beach to the lighthouse. Sea birds such as seagulls, cormorants and the highly endangered oystercatcher can be seen resting on the granite outcrops that are exposed along the coastline.

Sightings of dolphins, seals and, towards the end of winter season, whale sightings are a regular occurrence.
